Frozen

Toucan's TF62 Series Frozen represents a solid entry into the budget laminate category, and for homeowners seeking a light gray floor at an accessible price point, it delivers reliable performance without significant compromises.

The 12.3mm thickness provides good underfoot stability and helps the floor feel more substantial than thinner alternatives. While this isn't a waterproof product, the 36-hour water resistance rating means you have time to clean up spills without panic. For kitchens and main living areas where the occasional splash is inevitable, this level of protection is practical and realistic.

Installation proved straightforward during our evaluation. The drop-lock system engages with a satisfying click, and the planks aligned well without significant gapping issues. Greater Vancouver flooring contractors find this accessible for both professional and DIY installations, though appropriate underlayment is recommended since none is attached. The 7.75" width strikes a good balance between modern wide-plank aesthetics and ease of handling.

One honest limitation: the AC4 rating, while technically commercial-grade, represents the entry point for commercial applications. For extremely high-traffic households with large dogs or very active children, you may see wear patterns emerge sooner than with higher-spec products. However, for typical residential use, the durability should hold up well for years.

The FloorScore and CARB2 certifications provide assurance on indoor air quality—an important consideration given that some budget laminates have historically struggled in this area. Toucan appears to prioritize this certification across their lineup.

At the $1.90-2.50/sqft price point in Canada, Frozen competes favorably with comparable offerings from larger brands. You're getting a well-constructed laminate with legitimate certifications and a distinctive light gray aesthetic that can genuinely transform a space.
