Silver Oyster

The decision between Silver Oyster 6 and Silver Oyster 12 comes down to one question: how hard will this floor work? For households with multiple occupants, pets, or simply a desire for peace of mind, the 12 mil version represents wise insurance.

Visually, both versions are identical—same Northhamptonshire pattern, same pale silvery tone, same low shade variation. The difference is purely structural, with the 12 mil wear layer providing a deeper buffer against wear, scratches, and abrasion.

Light floors have traditionally been considered higher-maintenance and less forgiving of wear. The 12 mil wear layer helps mitigate this concern by maintaining surface integrity longer. Any wear patterns that develop take significantly longer to become visible.

**Metro Vancouver builders** appreciate that from a value perspective, the price premium for the 12 mil version is relatively modest—roughly 10-15% more than the 6 mil. Given the extended 20-year warranty and enhanced durability, this upgrade often pays for itself in avoided replacement costs.

The trade-off remains installation complexity. Like all American Charm products, Silver Oyster 12 requires glue-down installation. For professional installation, this is routine; for DIYers, it adds cost or a significant learning curve.

For Canadian buyers, the converted pricing positions Silver Oyster 12 as exceptional value compared to domestic alternatives. The Made-in-USA manufacturing ensures consistent quality, while FloorScore certification addresses indoor air quality concerns.
