Blackstone

Blackstone represents Beaulieu's response to the growing demand for dark, dramatic flooring options in the Canadian market. As the newest color in the Tidal Nature collection, it brings a sophisticated charcoal-black oak aesthetic to a product line previously focused on lighter, more neutral tones.

The construction follows Beaulieu's Light SPC formula — a 4.4mm total thickness with a 70/30 calcium carbonate to vinyl core ratio. While thinner than premium SPC options in the 6-8mm range, this construction still delivers solid rigidity and dimensional stability. The attached 1mm EVA foam backing provides adequate cushioning and sound dampening for residential applications, though it won't match the comfort level of thicker cork-backed alternatives.

Where Blackstone truly shines is in its practicality for dark floors. Traditional dark hardwood notoriously shows every speck of dust, scratch, and pet hair. Blackstone's medium embossed texture and matte finish help camouflage daily wear while the ceramic bead enhanced surface resists scratching. The antimicrobial treatment adds peace of mind for households with pets and children. Vancouver flooring installers recommend Blackstone specifically for clients wanting dark floors without premium pricing.

The Välinge 5Gi locking system makes installation straightforward for DIY homeowners. The zero-acclimation requirement is particularly valuable — you can install immediately without waiting 48-72 hours like most flooring requires. The extreme temperature tolerance (-20°C to 50°C) opens up installation possibilities in seasonal cottages, sunrooms, and three-season spaces where other flooring might fail.

The lifetime residential warranty is comprehensive, covering waterproof performance, wear, stain resistance, and pet damage. The 5-year light commercial warranty positions this as a residential-first product, though it can handle low-traffic commercial applications.

For the price point, Blackstone offers genuine value. The dealer-only distribution model means pricing varies by location, but expect positioning in the budget-to-mid Light SPC range. It won't compete with premium thick-core products on comfort or acoustics, but it delivers reliable performance and bold aesthetics at an accessible price.
