Phantom Gray

The 12 mil Phantom Gray makes more sense than perhaps any other upgrade in the American Charm lineup. Dark floors show wear differently than light floors—scratches appear as lighter marks that stand out against the charcoal background. The doubled wear layer directly addresses this vulnerability.

In practical terms, the 12 mil wear layer provides more material before reaching the printed design layer. This translates to better scratch resistance in high-traffic areas and longer-lasting uniform appearance. For homeowners investing in the dramatic charcoal look, protecting that investment with the thicker wear layer is prudent.

The 20-year residential warranty reflects Armstrong's confidence in the product's long-term performance. For homeowners planning extended ownership, this warranty coverage provides meaningful protection. The dramatic aesthetic takes design commitment—the warranty ensures the floor can meet that commitment for decades.

**Metro Vancouver households** with pets find the combination of scratch-resistant Diamond 10® Technology with the 12 mil wear layer provides excellent protection. Light commercial applications for Phantom Gray 12 mil include design studios, boutiques, creative agencies, and similar spaces where the bold aesthetic enhances the environment.

Installation and maintenance requirements remain unchanged from the 6 mil version. The upgrade is entirely internal, affecting long-term performance rather than day-to-day use. This makes the decision straightforward: if you're choosing Phantom Gray, the 12 mil version provides better protection at modest cost increase.
