Hawking Xtra

Hawking Xtra represents traditional wood aesthetics updated for modern life. Where historical oak floors required constant vigilance against moisture, Hawking's 72-hour spill protection lets you enjoy warm brown wood tones in kitchens and high-traffic areas without anxiety.

The warm brown coloration deserves specific attention for its versatility. It's not a trendy color that will date your home, nor is it so traditional it feels outdated. This is the kind of brown that real estate agents describe as 'showing well' — it photographs beautifully, appeals to broad tastes, and creates that instant sense of home that buyers respond to.

From a practical standpoint, warm brown is one of the best colors for hiding everyday dirt. Pet hair, dust, and minor scuffs disappear into the natural color variation, making this an excellent choice for households where daily vacuuming isn't realistic. The matte finish further helps by avoiding the shiny-floor syndrome where every speck shows.

The 12.3mm thickness puts Hawking Xtra in premium laminate territory. Vancouver flooring installers note the difference underfoot compared to 8mm budget options — more solidity, better sound dampening, and a more substantial heel-strike feel. Combined with quality underlayment, this floor achieves respectable acoustic performance for condo and townhouse installations.

Installation with the Välinge 5G system is straightforward. The drop-lock mechanism engages cleanly, and the planks lie flat without the buckling issues that plague inferior click systems. Expect a weekend project for an average room if you're a reasonably handy homeowner.

The warranty coverage is among the best in laminate flooring: lifetime residential for major concerns, 15 years light commercial, and that 30-day no-questions-asked return policy if the color doesn't work in your space. Beaulieu clearly stands behind this product.
