Costner

Costner distinguishes itself from the Casting lineup through its smoked finish treatment. While sharing the same 12mm construction as its siblings, the smoking process gives this floor genuine character that belies its entry-level positioning.

The warm brown coloration is genuinely appealing—not the flat, monochromatic brown you sometimes see at this price point. There's depth and variation that makes each plank interesting. The combination of wire-brushing and smoking creates subtle texture that's visible without being distracting. Metro Vancouver families often highlight this floor as offering premium appearance at accessible pricing.

From a practical standpoint, this darker tone is more forgiving of daily life than the lighter options. Dust and minor scratches are less visible, which is a real advantage for families. However, the floor isn't immune to showing dirt—dark floors can show dust as readily as light floors show dirt.

The smoked finish adds perceived value without increasing actual cost, making Costner arguably the best aesthetic value in the Casting lineup. The traditional warm palette remains current without chasing trends that might date quickly.

Installation and performance characteristics match the rest of the collection. The 12mm thickness remains the limiting factor for heavy use applications, but for typical residential environments, this is a solid performer that punches above its price class visually.
